Cessna 172P

Our Cessna 172 is a 4 seat, primary/secondary/Garmin430W instrument aircraft
Hobbs time rate $140 per hour, wet (surcharge applies when fuel exceeds $5gal.)

From discovery flight to solo to certification more pilots have launched their dreams in a Skyhawk than in any other aircraft. Because the Skyhawk is certified for VFR and IFR training it’s the perfect trainer no matter where you are on your journey to pilothood.

With more than 43,000 delivered the Cessna Skyhawk is the best-selling, most-flown aircraft ever. Maybe that’s because of it proven reliability – or its forgiving flight characteristics. Or maybe its reputation as the safest general aviation aircraft ever built. Because not only is the Skyhawk the most direct route to fulfilling your dreams of flight, it’s also an ideal instrument trainer and one of the world’s truly great airplanes.

  • N5333P is a refurbished 1958 Piper Comanche 250(hp) with a new interior and a completely new avionics panel sporting:
    • Garmin 430W (LPV line of RNAV approach minimums)
    • Dual ILS/LOC/VOR
    • Electronic Primary (JPI EDM 900) engine monitor.  Very capable, SA saving combination instrument.
    • Aspen primary Electronic Flight Display (ADI and HSI with impeded displays for: airspeed, altitude, VVI, navigation, wind, temp, etc.)
    • and more...
  • This fuel injected, 3 blade prop, 4 "real" person, 1200+ lbs useful load aircraft is set up for your getaway trip.
  • Cruiser: At 145 kts to 155 kts TAS, it is easy to find a great place to visit without taking the time to drive along the ground.
    • Example: instead of a car trip to Lake Texoma (approx 4 hours one way), fly the Comanche for approx 1.2 hours (one way).  Your short flight time on both ends of the trip will allow you to do it all in one day without being in a rush or coming back extremely late.
    • Or: Fly out of Altus on Friday afternoon, spend almost the entire weekend in Colorado Springs, then fly back Sunday evening without missing a single work day.
      • See chart below for an idea of location timing, wind dependent. By comparison, estimate any other location you would like to visit.
  • Flexible rental checkout and/or complex and high-performance endorsement training available.
    • Renters: Your rental checkout can be accomplished to/from a destination of interest.  Get a "Hundred Dollar Hamburger" at the same time.
    • Endorsements: Complex and High-performance endorsement training can also be accomplished to/from a destination(s) of interest.
  • SEL Commercial training required?  The FAA dropped the requirement for a complex SEL aircraft for both Commercial and CFI practical exams.  Therefore, you do not have to get "checked out" for solo in a complex aircraft.
    • However, for Commercial Rating, you still need 10 hours of complex aircraft time.  Get this requirement fulfilled in N5333P and, again, go places of interest to you at the same time.
  • Rental price starts at $215/hr (Hobbs) but discounts are available for military, WOSC students and block time purchases.  Your rental could be as low as $195/hr.
    • Please check online around the country, you will find that this is a low cost for this type of aircraft.
  • The primary instructor for this aircraft is:
    • Russ Keith (580) 649-7480, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
    • Feel free to call (voicemail will be checked), text or email anytime.  Leave contact details.  Every effort will be made to get back to you in a timely manner.
Disregard straight line distances.  Flight Plan Times were calculated with SUA, etc., avoided.

  • N2207N is a refurbished 1947 Cessna 140 with an upgraded 100 hp (originally 85 hp) with a new interior.
  • This aircraft’s primary function at Red River Aviation is to provide tailwheel endorsements to private pilots (and above).
    • This training consists of 1 hour of ground school and 2 to 4 training flights, depending on experience.
